Soccer and Tennis

Soccer on the beach is coming on May 14th at Fort Myers Beach. I am going to be playing in this tournament with some of my previous players. If you are 18 or older, live near the Fort Myers, Naples area and would like to join our team, please email me at info@thetravellingtravelagent.com. Time is running out as advance pay for tournaments is always cheaper.

Recently, I have been playing tennis with a group of people in Lehigh Acres. The cute girl in the video plays at a district tournament tomorrow. Hopefully, she will get a good draw and play well. Unless she lets me get her a USTA card and play tournaments, this may be her last day of play. However, I will be heading around Florida playing in some tournaments trying to rank myself. It has been awhile since I have competed in a tennis tournament, but my skills are better than before. If anyone is interestd in tennis tournaments, or tennis group travel, simply email me. A tennis group cruise would be an awesome idea.

Any sport cruise would be an awesome idea. It would be very simple for me to set it up for you. I am actually a sport fanatic, but oddly I do not like watching them. I love to play and be in the action.

Fisheating Creek, Palmdale, Florida

Numerous weekends while I was a kid, my father took me to Fisheating Creek to go canoeing and/or camping. For the most part, I had a lot of fun here. Sometimes, he would bring a friend of his that had a daughter and they would take us out looking for frogs and alligators at night while we would sit in this hillbilly buggy freezing our butts off. We were ok; we had a blanket. We almost always caught a lot of fish at this creek as my dad and his friends knew where all the spots were.  One time, before we left, I was playing tug of war with this girl named Amy. I felt bad as I pulled too hard and she got rope burn on her hands. Also, one time on a very windy day as my dad and I were canoeing towards the end of the journey, the canoe drifted near land where an alligator awaited (which was approximately 14 ft long). The gator splashed itslef in the water as my dad stood up in the back of the canoe. I was in the front paddling until he stood up. He kept his balance somehow, as did I, and we paddled on in to the campground.

More Fishing

My wife, a couple of friends, and myself went fishing out in the intercoastal from the Sanibel Island bridge. Once again, we caught catfish, but that’s because we were using sinkers. We went out in the Gulf of Mexico about 3 miles from the bridge and stayed for quite a while. Dave caught a yellowtail something fish. The rest of us caught catfish or nothing. Wait, we all 4 caught a tremendous amount of sun. We were out on the water from around 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. We all put suntan lotion on and still got massive sunburns. When we went out of the Gulf back into the Intercoastal, I showed them where a bunch of fish jump. I was right, but we caught nothing. My wife did have a bite every throw as her mullet was eaten a little bit at a time. We saw dolphins in this area as well. Every time I have been in the intercoastal I have seen dolphins. We travelled across the water where birds were diving and splashing and once again, it was Dave who caught a fish. It was a grouper this time. It barely made the legal limit, but it was thrown back anyway. Eight hours and 2 fish. Any experienced fishermen out there, what she we use for bait and where should we go?

Fishing

I am not an avid fisherman, but I do occassionally fish. I usually fish in freshwater trying to catch brim, catfish, and bass. The biggest bass I ever caught was 8 lbs, but it was in a pond. Fishing shows usually brag about Lake Okeechobee and rightfully so. It’s a huge lake, so there is going to be plenty of fish in it. Another close by in Highlands County, Lake Istapoga, I had a friend catch a fish bigger than some pro guy in a local magazine. He’ll tell you the story on here soon and I’ll link you to it. This same friend and I are going fishing out in the gulf by Fort Myers and Sanibel. We have done this twice and his boat stalled for a while both times that we went. The first time, he had to use a trolling motor all the way in. The second time, we were caught in rapids where he had to use the trolling motor to get us out. This same day, he was attacked by a catfish. Yes, you heard me. These things have amazingly sharp spines and can really hurt you, which is apparently an understatement. We are going to attempt this trip one more time tomorrow. I don’t think ocean catfish are good eating, otherwise, last time we were there, supper was plentiful. We are on the prowl for bigger and better fish. If you have a fish story, which every guy should, let me know about it.

Soccer tour

I made a Florida soccer team back in the early 90′s that traveled to Europe to play. It cost around $5000 per kid to go. We went to 3 different countries: Sweden, Denmark, and Holland. We were there for 1 month and although I was hurt and sick, it was a fun and interesting experience, which I will explain more in the overseas destination category. Notice the cost was $5000. This included 2 meals per day, an overnight in local schools and a monestary for a month, roundtrip flight from Miami to Amsterdam on Martinair, bus and transit rides, 3 guaranteed games, a trip to the beach, and a fairy across the North Sea. Today, a group can email me at info@thetravellingtravelagent.com and I will take your group for a lot less. It doesn’t have to be just soccer; however, since soccer is a favorite of the world, it may be a better choice. Of course, Cuba and Japan love baseball, many countries love basketball and all of this can be worked out. I will also be your tour guide saving you tremendous amounts of money.
